Little Groot Project Entry #2

The next step once the sculpt was complete was to mould it. I decided the best way to mould this particular sculpt based on its small arms and the odd shape was to use a two part mould. I did this by pushing the sculpt half way into wet clay on its back and smoothed the clay around the sculpt trying to keep the wet clay level. I then built walls using foam board (this works well as it isn't affected by the water in the wet clay). I filled any gaps using more wet clay and was able to use the base of the sculpt as the fourth wall. At this stage i sprayed some J-wax ontop to work as a release and was able to pour the tin cure silicone in from a height, tap out any bubbles and wait for it to set.
